'White Mercedes' Music Video with Choomba

Phluxus2 Dance Collective were thrilled to collaborate with music sensations, Choomba, on the film clip for their track ‘White Mercedes’.

The music video features groovy choreography by Nerida Matthaei and performances by Phluxus2 dancers Jade Brider, James Lee and Chiu-Ju Wang. Directed and produced by Method to My Madness (MTMM Film).

'Up' Music Video with the Dune Rats

Choreographer Nerida Matthaei and Phluxus2 performers Rachel Dowse, Jacob Watton and Chiu-Ju Wang had a blast working with Australian rock legends, the Dune Rats, on the film clip for their single ‘Up’.

From bike riding penchee, to church pew flipping and alleyway fight choreography, this project was massively fun! Directed and produced by Method to My Madness (MTMM Film).

 

Lemonade

In 2021, we were honoured to work with Australian pop sensation, Eves Karydas, on the music video for her single, Lemonade.

Lemonade features zesty choreography by Nerida Matthaei and Phluxus2 dancers Chiu-Ju Wang, Lauren Sherlock and Alexa Dewar. Directed and produced by Method to My Madness (MTMM Film).

The Woman Remembers

A collaboration with Belloo Creative and Good Company Arts, The Woman Remembers is a projected work of scale and beauty, addressing themes of belonging and loss, relationship to landscape and our collective experience of climate emergency. In May 2021, this poetic piece of visual storytelling was projected onto the outer walls of The Judith Wright Arts Centre. 1.5 x 12

1.5 x 12 is a short contemporary dance piece created as an artistic artefact made during and in response to isolation. Choreographed by Nerida Matthaei, the work focusses on themes of confinement, mental health and connectivity, drawn together in an intricate tessellation performed by 12 exceptional local dancers and performed in an outdoor space. Performed by Charles Ball, Jade Brider, Alexa Dewar, Hsin-Ju Ely, Lauren Graham, Bella Hood, Grace Knauth, Nadia Milford, Erin O’Rourke, Chiu-Ju Wang, Jacob Watton and Sandi Woo. This project was made possible with funding by Anywhere Festival and space access through Backbone.

Exquisitely Isolated

Created during and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Phluxus2 dance artists created a virtual collaborative project in their own homes. Using a choreographic interpretation of the surrealist process of exquisite corpse the dancers work in creative and physical isolation. Performed by, in order of appearance –  Nerida Matthaei, Abbey Moore, Chiu-Ju Wang, Asher Bowen-Saunders,  Jacob Watton, Nadia Milford, Gabriel Comerford, Courtney Scheu, Felix Palmerson, Amber Nofal, Tiana Pinnell, Sandi Woo, Lauren Sherlock,  Essie Horn, Lauren Graham and Reina Takeuchi. Activation of Fact of Matter

Phluxus2 artists collaborated with GOMA to activate the choreographic object of renowned artist William Forsythe for its Brisbane premier in the Water exhibition. The activation was choreographed by Nerida Matthaei and performed by Charles Ball, Michelle Barnett, Felix Palmerson, Michael Smith, Jacob Watton, with rehearsal directorial assistance from Ashleigh Musk.
